New Safety Rule for EV Charging Stations

Most of us are aware that EVSE’s must have a Charge Circuit Interruption Device (CCID) in  order to be compliant to safety standard UL 2231-1 & 2.

However a new rule which came into force on November 21st says that the CCID must be fully tested on every EVSE at production End-of-Line.

At Gridtest we believe this is good practice as we’ve seen examples of public EVSE’s installed with the CCID  either disabled or faulty.   Check out UL-2231 Appendix D for more details on the rule change.   The Gridtest EVE-100 provides automated functional and safety testing which includes RCD and GFI testing.

    Hello,
The latest version of UL2231-1 and UL2231-2 were published on 9/7/2012 and they don’t have Appendix D. Can you point out where the Appendix D is and where it says Nov 21st?
    Thanks,
    Xiaopeng
